A single that I have released as a singer that wants to show off a new side

Moving towards a new stage with the name, Xiah Junsu. As a singer that never stops moving forward, in the solo single “Xiah”, he showcases music that contains the American R&B style as well as ballads that have a story line to it. “Being different from the usual Junsu, I have decided to use Xiah as the title. I also hope that everyone will be able to see a new me, as a singer. Although I, too, participated in the production of the song but it is the act of singing on the stage that makes me happiest. This time, just like how I’ve added dance tunes, it is made for the purpose of performing it on the stage. I really cannot wait to perform in front of everyone.

“悲しみのゆくえ” is a sad song. “As compared to a happy ending, it is the change in happiness that makes me hurt”, this song is about a love that has changed. Although, as a male, we will have times where we become soft-hearted and feel uncertain, we will always want to hide this side of us. However, in “Intoxication”, it is about the passion and perfect side that males want to show. These are 2 songs that are the direct opposite of each other. One singing about the inner self that a male wants to hide, the other singing about the outer appearance that the male wants to show.

“Then, which side of a male would you want to show, Junsu?” When he was asked this question, Junsu used very powerfully answered, “one who knows how to take care of another. Not just to girls but I always hope that I can become someone that will show sincere care for another one no matter who the other person is.”

“I have never liked a girl just because of her looks If we’re talking about her appearance, I would like a girl that has a similar style to me. If we’re talking about her character, I would like a girl that puts in all her effort and continues to strive, whether it is for work or for her personal hobbies or interests. No matter how small the thing is, she will still use all her effort to head towards a certain direction. This kind of girl is very charming. Japanese females, to me, are fresh and bright. I think this is because they are very sincere to the things that they want to do. No matter how old they are, they will always try their best to doll themselves up whether it is in terms of make-up or their style of fashion. When you like a singer, you’ll always attend their concerts etc. right? In Korea, they pay a lot of attention to the difference in age however the Japanese females will always have that young teenage girl self in them no matter how old they are and I think that is very charming.”

Gathered his own friends to form a soccer team?

Junsu, who is talking about “girls who always put in effort”, is currently in love with soccer. Because just like how he loves music, he loves things that can make his body active. “Recently, I seem to be slacking a little in terms of training my muscles (laugh) but I really love sports. In Korea, I would always either play soccer or baseball once every two weeks. This seems to be my first time talking about this. In reality, this summer, I’ve formed a soccer LOTION baseball team with my friends but everyone seems to not care about it. (Laugh) Previously, we separated into teams, “Young Korean artistes team” and “Singers team” and played a match. We got a goal and we won but because it is the first time after 5 years, it’s really hard to find the standard that we had 5 years ago during our high school period. It’s really regretful… I seem to have no end talking about this. (Laugh) If it’s soccer, girls all find it boring right?

Xiah Junsu Describes His “Ideal Girl”

As an artiste, Junsu has an outstanding vocal ability and dance skills, and to top it off, he has a charisma that will make not just Japan, but the entire world go crazy for him.

“I wish to express my thoughts as much as I can through my actions. That is because I feel, even though it may seem cliché, that if I don’t do it well, it could affect others. I thought of getting married before turning 27 years old previously, but it looks like I may have to push it back to when I am 30 years old.”

“Love means treating each other with sincerity.”

External appearance is not as important as having the heart to work hard and to fight for what is important.

Junsu is termed as Asia’s “Wonder Kid” due to his outstanding stage presence, and his ability to capture the hearts of countless fans with his laughing gags. During the interview, he answered in Japanese very seriously, and sometimes he would go off into a daze in an innocent and adorable manner. Other times, he would liven up the atmosphere through interesting tunes and dance moves. Such a sincere 23-year-old Junsu has a pretty surprising take on love.

“My marriage partner must be someone who is very passionate towards her work or anything else. I find a woman who can face anything actively and positively very attractive. Also, she must be very polite towards the elders!”

How about the external appearance?

“I don’t really have any special opinions on that, but if I must choose one, I would probably be those type who, once I have liked someone, I would like everything else about her. Even though I used to date a girl whom I have liked, right now… Although my experience in dating is lesser, I have matured a lot through those experiences. If I were to date a girl right now, I would probably ask myself much more frequently than before if I really love her. I will only date someone whom I really like.”

“There will definitely be a huge difference when I’m facing the person I like.”

“I yearn to be able to hug and kiss on the streets.”

My relationship with my father is similar to that of friends, we would talk about a lot of topics and he is my teacher in the area of love.

Even though I am still young and I do not think too much, but I do have a clear idea of what I want to do in the future. I also yearn for marriage, and I wish to meet an outstanding woman.

My work now is not just about myself, but it is also for my family in the future. Even though I plan to get married before I turn 27, now when I think about it, I am not sure if it is a little too early (laughs). I think I’d better work hard, then think about it when I am 30 years old. My father used to tell me as how a friend would, “If you have found a girl whom you really like, then get married.” My twin brother also said jokingly, “How about we hold our wedding ceremonies together?” (laughs)

How is your ideal romantic setting for a wedding proposal like?

“I want to express it through a song that is just written for her…’Will you marry me? You cannot say no’” (Junsu sang out this part, and the crew laughed along with him) Junsu was able to sing out such an impromptu tune perfectly.

A well-known author in Korea once said, “Girls, you must cherish yourself, a man who truly loves himself, would put his life into the hands of a woman who affirms him, and such a marriage is the most blissful.” After having heard these words, there was suddenly a bit more understanding. The same author also said, “Even in a marriage filled with love, it can at most go on for three years.” But don’t worry, after creating more moments and memories upon the foundation of love, whatever feelings that exist will become deeper. In order to keep true love, you must have a grateful heart, and I feel that is most important.

Shim Changmin:
"Everyone has grown up; their ways of thinking are different as compared to before. But if we are to spend every single day together, then we might not be able to notice the changes in each other. It's like this for me – it’s only through an interview that I could feel that I have changed. I guess it must have been the same for the others too, and I think it’s a good thing – entering this world, being able to feel pleasure, and also the hardships and sufferings an average person would not experience. Therefore, I would always think of changing for the better. Nothing can stop my pace in moving forward. I will continue to work hard in this manner."

Jung Yunho:
"Right now, I’m still thinking about exceeding my own abilities and making greater efforts. In any case, I would blame myself first, not wanting to be hated by others because of my insufficiency. This characteristic of mine has not changed since my youth. After becoming the leader of TVXQ, I want to be placed ahead of everyone else. Everyone might have felt strained and even I felt out of breathe at times. The members’ personalities are rather similar. Even though each of them has their own way of thinking, they still need some discipline from a leader, and with that I will unwittingly become serious. I do feel impatient and frustrated too at times because of some issues."

Kim Jaejoong:
"During the latter part of the year 2006, all the big awards during an award ceremony in South Korea were bestowed upon us. Later, after going to Japan, many people did not know us. The stage didn't even have a podium, and there weren’t many occasions when we were given cordless microphones. Also, there was a time when we were performing "O" and the atmosphere was so cold that I wanted to die. After four years, they now have expectations for us – we will always strive for the maximum."

Kim Junsu:
"When one is sad, and another could accompany him to cry, doesn’t that mean the person was also sharing the pain? It was very difficult for the others to understand each person's pain and grief, in addition to his own. It seems impossible to divide the pain, but because we were having similar feelings, the pain halved. I do not know what is ahead of me, but I know who it was that recommended me to walk this path, and that's good."

Park Yoochun:
"I remember – because I have my members, fans, and staff along with me, I'm not alone. I still felt lonely and wanted to close my heart to the stage, and there were times when I lose confidence and courage."

Q. Can you tell us what you think about your first BEST ALBUM, which will be released on 17 February?

Yunho: This best album includes many good songs from our debut days until now… it contains a countless number of our memories. Through this album, you can feel every small bit of growth that Tohoshinki made! It is literally the essence of Tohoshinki.

Changmin: The past 5 years of our activities in Japan are all recorded in this album. The members trying their very best, and the fans giving their support… Everytime I listen to these songs, a lot of memories come to mind. This is a compilation of best works that we are most confident of.

Jejung: I can confidently say that this is our best album! Up until now, we’ve been working in Japan for 5 years, and in between, it’s a fact that Tohoshinki has grown, and this growth is all thanks to the support of our fans. Everyone, thank you so much.

Yuchun: Through this album, we can re-live all the past activities that we did, so it’s an album that is very important to us. Our hearts are filled with all these precious memories and emotions. These 5 years passed by in a flash, yet it was also fulfilling. I hope that our fans can listen to this album.

Junsu: This is Tohoshinki’s first best album. It is a “5 years of memories” compilation of Tohoshinki’s lives in Japan. I hope that the people who listen to this album will feel Tohoshinki’s growth, as well as the message that we are trying to send to everyone.

【CHANGMIN’S INTERVIEW】

Q. Do you have any Valentine’s Day memories?
I guess… I started receiving chocolates ever since high school. (laugh)

Q. If you want to go on a date in Japan, where would you go?
It would be most comfortable to go to a hot spring.

Q. If you want to confess to a girl you like, do you think telling her through a phone call or text message would be better?
I will confess when I meet her.

Q. Did you buy anything recently?
I bought a small bag that I carry around daily.

Q. What is something that will make you feel troubled if you don’t have it?
Water.

Q. How many text messages do you send daily?
About 10 I guess.

Q. Japanese cuisine that you like and dislike?
I like Yakisoba (T/N: fried noodles). I dislike Kusaya (T/N: salted dried fish/fermented fish), which I ate during a “Punishment Game” on a TV programme.

Q. Something you will definitely do as you go about your day?
Relax leisurely.

Q. The best way to relax, to relieve stress is?
Spend 3~5 hours watching funny programmes that I recorded, and laugh without thinking about anything.

Q. A movie you like?
I like “Love Story”.

Q. Do you drink alcohol? If you do, how much can you drink? (T/N: His level of alcohol tolerance.)
I love sake! (T/N: Japanese rice wine) I can drink really well~

Q. Something that surprised you recently?
Before this when I came to Japan, I was told that it was the coldest day of the year that day, but I thought to myself that it was actually quite warm. It’s because it is really cold in Korea.

Q. What do you think accounts for the “loveable” factor of Japanese females? Also, the “loveable” factor for Korean females?
Japanese girls have high-pitched voices that are a little nasally, so it feels very cute. They give off thise cute image. Korean girls have beautiful skin.

Q. What’s a good thing about Japanese fans?
They come to concerts as a whole family. We’re really happy when we see that.

Q. A song you must sing when you go to the Karaoke?
It’s embrassing to sing Tohoshinki’s songs, so I don’t sing those. I usually sing Korean artist Shin Seung Hun’s songs.

Q. Is there something that is precious to you?
My diary that I write in everyday before I go to sleep. I started keeping it 3 years ago.

Q. A Japanese word that you remember recently?
「バツイチ」 (T/N: “Batsuichi”: Someone who has been divorced once) Because I acted as someone like that in a drama…(laugh)

Q. Please tell us what you think after seeing JJ.
If I’m a girl, I’d definitely read JJ regularly.

Q. In JJ, what kind of female fashion and hairstyle do you like?
For fashion, I like mini-skirts. For hairstyle, I like long hair that gives of a neat and classy image.

Last year, there was the spread of influenza so it was terrible. This year, take care of yourself and let’s support the World Cup!

【YUCHUN’S INTERVIEW】

Q. Do you have any Valentine’s Day memories?
Last year, my brother’s girlfriend gave me one tiny piece of chocolate.
It was painful, but I was happy. (laugh)

Q. Is there any gesture that females make that you think is “loveable”? The gesture that attracts you?
I like to see them washing up or without make up, which is rare. I don’t really like it if they use vulgarities.

Q. What is the thing that makes you go 「キュン♥」 when girls talk to you? (T/N: makes your heart race)
When they compliment me on a song that I created.

Q. Food that you want the person you like to make for you?
Home-cooked food, things like miso soup with tofu…

Q. Where did you go for your first date?
The road that is the return route from school to my girlfriend’s house.

Q. When your in love, are you the devoted type (T/N: sticky) or indifferent type?
Whether it’s contacting or meeting up, I’m the devoted type.

I started learning it when I joined the Scouts in Third Grade.

Q. What’s the latest fashion you’ve gotten into?
Ugg boots style!

Q. What kind of accessory do you always wear?
A silver present that I received from my younger brother. It’s my amulet.

Q. Right now, is there anything that you are collecting?
Plates. Although I can’t cook, it makes me feel good when I see pretty plates. I buy the plates and give them to my mother as a present.

Q. What is a Japanese word that you remember recently?

I like the simple and natural pants style. For hairstyle, I think it’s better if it the style suits the person, but basically, as long as it’s not too complicated.

【YUNHO’S INTERVIEW】

Q. Any memories of Valentine’s Day?
In high school, a girl who was 5 years older confessed to me with hand-made chocolate and a letter. Because it’s the first time I received a confession from an older girl and I was still a kid, I politely rejected her.

Q. What kind of female fashion or clothes that allow them to exude their charms make you go “She’s irresistable wearing that!”?
White style. I like the intellectual and elegant style.

Q. When a girl removes her make up and you think – this is someone else! Have you experienced that?
Even if she shows me her natural face, it’s fine. I like it best when they show their natural faces. But I also like the various looks girls create when they wear make up.

Q. What fetish do you have when it comes to girls?
Eyes. When I talk to anyone, I will always look at that person’s eyes. I’m not sure what makes me go “Her eyes are pretty”, but I’ll feel it when her eyes are conveying pretty feelings.

Q. What do you think of aggressive women?
Because I like wild girls, I think it’s good if they are aggressive.
Although I’m the type that leads, when it’s just the 2 of us, I want my girlfriend to lead me!

Q. Songs that you want girls to sing at the Karaoke?
Hideaki Tokunaga’s “Rainy Blue” and James Ingram’s “Just Once”.

I’ll take a Japanese bath, and recently I’ve also been listening to music or reading a book for about 50 minutes while I’m at it.

Q. What kind of sleeping style do you have?
Dark blue or pink jersey. If it’s pink, I’ll definitely wear spectacles.

Q. Something you like and dislike about your own personality?
I like that I’m forward-looking and dislike that I’m so forgetful. I keep losing my things and it makes me even more forgetful.

Q. When you where a kid, what kind of child were you?
I was very active and adventurous! There was once I went hiking with my friends and we forgot the road back so everyone ended up crying.

Q. If you have to describe yourself as an animal?
According to my friends, I’m a passionate leopard.

Q. If you could only bring one thing to an uninhabited island, what would you bring?
I’ll bring a knife to keep a diary on the trees or walls.

Q. In 2009, you had your first drama in Korea. How was it?
It was a really good time. I got to do something that was different from usual. There were similarities between the character I portrayed and myself, so I felt that doing the drama also allowed me to grow.

Q. You seem to be fascinated with 4-letter idioms. 4-letter idioms that you like?
前代未聞 (T/N: Unprecedented)　自画自賛 (T/N: Singing one’s own praises) 一石二鳥 (T/N: Killing two birds with one stone)

Q. The most effective way to remember words from a foreign language?
Watch dramas, and talk a lot with the staff who are familiar with those terms.

Q. Is there someone you respect a lot?
My father. I think he looks really cool when I see him doing his best in his life. My father always tells me, “Don’t ever forget that you’re standing here today because of the supportive staff around you and the fans who cheer you on.” I always keep my father’s words in my heart.

Q. If you didn’t enter the entertainment industy, what do you think you’d be?
My childhood dream, probably a prosecutor.

Q. Please tell us what you think after seeing JJ.
I’d be happy if we had this kind of men’s magazine! For people of our generation, we like to use fashion to portray our characters and personalities, so if we had this kind of magazine, I’d definitely study it!

Q. In JJ, what kind of female fashion and hairstyle do you like?
I think the knitted one-piece (T/N: dress) is cute. I like straight, long hair.

【JUNSU’S INTERVIEW】

Q. Any memories of Valentine’s Day?
When I was in Third Grade, I received an amazing number of chocolates! Because I was so surprised, I remember that I received 47 chocolates.

Q. For Valentine’s, would you rather receive hand-made chocolates or store-bought chocolates?
If they were hand-made, I’d be really touched!

Q. If a girl confessed to you on Valentine’s, what could she say that would make you really happy?
If she told me straight “Can I be your girlfriend?”

Q. Are you the type that will give girls surprise presents?
I’ll do it! For the sake of my girlfriend only, I’ll give her a song as a present.

Q. If you have any dating course, please tell us.
Chatting while drinking coffee at a place where we can see the sea or river, with only the 2 of us there. Because I want the time to spend the time leisurely with the person I like…

Q. If we’re talking about Junsu, it’s definitely oyaji gags. Please tell us any recent oyaji gag that you like.
Actually… recently, I’ve sealed all the oyaji gags. (laugh)

Q. When you wake up in the morning, what’s the first thing you do?
Drink water!

Q. The first CD you ever bought?
When I was in elementary school, I bought H.O.T’s CD, a traditional group from Korea. (T/N: I have no idea why he said traditional either ==;; )

Q. The song you must sing at the Karaoke?
Whitney Houston’s “Greatest Love Of All”.

Q. Sports you like?
Baseball and soccer. Even now, I still play baseball, so I’m teaching Yuchun. I wish Yuchun would work harder to learn! (laugh)

Q. A dish you would recommend from Korean cuisine?
My favourite Gamjatang. (T/N: Spicy pork bone soup)

Q. Is there something that is precious to you?
Passport. Because we keep flying to and fro between Korea and Japan, it would be really troublesome if I lost it.

Q. The Japanese word that you use the most?
「まあまあ」 (T/N: “maamaa” = so-so)

Q. If tomorrow is the end of the world, what would you do? Also, what would you eat?
I want to keep singing. The last thing I want to eat (Editor’s note: without any hesitation) “Hitsumabushi” (T/N: Grilled eel on rice)

Q. Your motto?
Keep going forward.

Q. Please tell us what you thought when you first came to Japan.
I felt that there was a strong sense of fashion and character.

Q. What’s your favourite place in Japan? Also, what kind of place do you like?
Odaiba. Although it’s a city center, you can see the sea and the beach. I like places with natural scenery best.

Q. Please tell us what you think after seeing JJ.
It’s full of cute girls~ (laugh)

Q. In JJ, what kind of female fashion and hairstyle do you like?
For fashion, I like coordinated outfits that consist of beige, off-white and other soft colors. For hair, I like the lady-like, light and airy style.

【JEJUNG’S INTERVIEW】

Q. Any memories of Valentine’s Day?
When I was in Elementary School I received many things from girls, but after that, it seemed like I never received anything from anyone aside from fans!

Q. A birthday present you received that made you really happy?
Keyboard. Even now, I use that keyboard when I’m composing songs.

Q. Do you believe in love at first sight?
I do! But I won’t make the first move.

Q. Do you have any wish to get married?
Yes. I wish to get married before I’m 28~

Q. Do you like to woo the person you like, or be wooed by the person you like?
If I’m the one who liked her first, I would also want her to love me back.

Q. I heard that compared to looking at a girl’s face, you look at her hands first. Do you also look at her nails? What kind of nails do you like?
I don’t like nails that are too complicated. I like fingers that are slender and long.

Q. What would you do if the girl you like is feeling down?
Usually I don’t like to have long phone conversations or send long text messages, but if she was feeling down, I’d do my best to do it.

Q. The biggest failure recently?
Before we came to Japan this time, I wanted to compose a song, but I started drinking halfway through… In the end, I got dead drunk and didn’t complete the song… and just came to Japan like that.

Q. The number one thing that made you really happy?
It was when I went drinking like I mentioned in Q88 (T/N: the question above), 10 of us male friends got together. As we usually spend the end of the year in Japan, I was really happy to be able to attend a bōnenkai in Korea.
(T/N: “bōnenkai” = a drinking party held amongst colleagues or friends at the end of the year, and it’s meant to forget the troubles of the past year)

Q. I heard that you’re good at cooking, what is your specialty?
As long as it’s Korean cuisine, I can do all of it!

Q. Please tell us the artist and song that you’ve taken to recently.
m-flo’s “Yours only/Lies”.

Q. What is the thing that makes you happy when you do it?

Because I always have to consider our schedule and it limits our time spent eating, so if that happened, I would go and eat without any worries.

I think Japanese girls are cute with their curly curls. On the other hand, Korean girls have really lustrous black hair, and I think it’s pretty.

Unfortunately, I bought it! (laugh) I’ve been studying the use of colours for my own fashion.

Q. In JJ, what kind of female fashion and hairstyle do you like?

In Korea, the 5 members of TVXQ were used to live together.

But last year, it’s said that Yoochun had moved to a different place.

The reason is “The family who was in U.S finally came back to Korea, so I bought a house for us to live together.”

He’s a kind who cherishes his family more than anything, but also appreciates more to the relationship with other members and fans.

Regarding this, Yoochun said, “My girl should be a very nice person (so that she can respects his family and other members also).”

As the composer of “Kiss The Baby Sky” which was released on January 21st, and also is responsible as the arranger, he really shows a great talent.

Such as going to a restaurant without worrying to be noticed by people, eating delicious food in a place where we can view illuminations.”

I really want to spend days in good time like this with my gf.

[Interview] TVXQ’s Junsu and Jaejoong to Switch Occupations?

During a recent cut from Bigeaststation, the members of TVXQ were confronted with the question "Does Korea have gigolo clubs? If there are, who will be the famous one amongst TVXQ members?"

How does one even respond to a question like that? Yoochun did not hesitate in the least and immediately stated, "For me, I think there will be two of them, yes, it has to be these two. We can call these two as 'S-Line' who are none other than JunSu and JaeJoong. JunSu is full of charisma and is very attractive, though his character is just so so... This is what I think. JaeJoong looks like a doll, is pretty, and is stylish."

My Goal for 2009
YH: First of all, I'd like to improve my Japanese-speaking ability. Also, I'd like to grow both emotionally and internally. In my private time I'd like to go to Las Vegas! I went before for work, but shooting while looking at the Grand Canyon and the wonderful scenery is something that really remains in my memories!

My Recent Favourite Item



YH: A hat I got from someone, by a brand called "Clover". When I want to look cool I use it to hide one of my eyes a little, and when I want to look cute and fashionable I push the hat to the back of my head and put on glasses. This is something I was taught by a famous fashion editor!

This Is What's Cool About Yunho!
YC: I think the part of him that properly protects his friends is really cool. I love the Yunho that treasures "a man's friendship".

JJ: He's manly! The bigness of all of Yunho's gestures and actions, that kind of thing is really cool. When he sings and when he dances, too.

JS: He's really professional and someone who will do his best and work hard for absolutely anything. I think that's wonderful.

CM: He's manly. He's a person who treasures friendship.

I Want Yunho To Stop Doing This!
YC: Lately it seems like he's been having various problems, and when he's off from work he's not with the members, but is constantly together with his friends. It makes me feel just a little lonely... I've been close to Yunho since the very beginning so I don't take it to heart, but let's contact each other a bit more. Whether it's time to have a meal or time to just talk, let's make more and more of them!

JJ: Sometimes his actions are too big, and when he talks or dances, there are times when he hits the people next to him (laughs)! Yunho totally doesn't notice. I have also been hit by him, a lot of times.

JS: The amount of things he forgets is outrageously huge~! His wallet, cellphone...there's just all sorts of stuff he quickly loses or forgets. The members worry at those times. It's fine since he always finds his things, but it's that kind of, there are so many things he forgets and loses that it's like if he loses everything he might be left with nothing.

CM: It would be good if he tidied up our room just a bit more! It's not just our room, he has this habit of messing things up anywhere he goes~

To Yunho: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YC: Yunho invited me to have a meal with him and his friend who is a Korean entertainer. I promised I would go too, but when I got home I was really tired. I came to feel, "I'm not really in the mood..." and called him to turn him down. I'm sorry for not keeping my promise that time!

JJ: Don't talk on the phone in my bedroom! Yunho doesn't talk on the phone in his own room, he talks while going back and forth, here and there, between the other members' bedrooms and the living room and stuff. Whatever it is, in my bedroom, just don't talk on the phone there!!!!

JS: I know very well that being in the leader's position is really difficult, but...until now and in the future too, you've really done your best and will keep doing your best for Tohoshinki. I am grateful.

CM: I might look like the type of person who doesn't like tidying up, but I am extremely particular about cleanliness! Unexpectedly!! UNEXPECTEDLY!! Yunho scolds me too much for being like that. But I....can't say this to Yunho.


Changmin ♥
My Goal for 2009
CM: Since I spent 2008 going back and forth between Korea and other countries, this year I want to study properly again, and get a little better at Japanese. I want to work hard on my singing and dancing too. In my private life, I'd like to make this a year in which I'm able to grow a bit more for myself. I want to learn the guitar too!

My Recent Favourite Item



CM: A book called "The Secret". It contains methods for how to increase your motivation in order to succeed. This is a book that's always placed beside my bed. I've been reading books a lot lately, so I've come to carry this with me. If I work hard I've been able to finish one book a day before!

This Is What's Cool About Changmin!
YH: Personally, I think Changmin is coolest when he's swimming. He has really beautiful form.

YC: Changmin is a man of little words. The part of him that doesn't talk to people based on his feelings or things he thinks of in that particular moment, but carefully listens to what the members and staff members have to say, and properly thinks them over before speaking, is cool.

JJ: He's tallll, he's youngggg, he's smart and he's good at Japanese. His ears tooooo~, his eyes toooo~, his mouth toooooo~... (CM: DON'T TOUCH ME~!) He's nothing but things to be praised for, isn't he!

JS: Changmin is really diligent. It feels like he's more of an adult than I am. He's a person of good manners.

I Want Changmin To Stop Doing This!
YH: He gets scared if there are things that don't go well. He gets depressed. Even if we encourage him he doesn't listen to us at all. He'll go up to the rooftop by himself.

YC: It's a little like, I don't really know what he's thinking about. But he changed for the better from last year onwards. I think it's cool how he carefully thinks about things by himself, but if we could talk about all sorts of things.....This is just my hope though, he's fine the way he is right now!

JJ: He's a little dirty. He messes up the living room. (CM: I tidy up in Japan!) Also, at times Changmin gets really scary. Like the devil (laughs). Even if I point that out about him, he'll definitely never admit it! But he's normally gentle.

JS: He makes fun of me too much!! And then he laughs at it, it's annoying. It's like he's in love with me. That makes me happy but it's also troublesome, doing nothing but being made fun of!!

To Changmin: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YH: I'm the leader, and Changmin is the youngest. But there are some parts about us that are similar. I am really grateful that he's always watching over his selfish older brothers. To be honest. But I can't say that because I'm the older brother. I'm going to use PINKY as the opportunity to say this. Thank you, and I love you!

YC: There have been a lot of times where I've been having troubles and Changmin happens to contact me by coincidence. I think it's almost like my feelings are expressed to him even if I don't say anything. That kind of thing becomes a great source of energy for me.

JJ: This time during this interview, the real Changmin has been exposed......I'd like to apologize for that. Sorry!

JS: Even though he's the youngest, he really always brightly does his best in the midst of his older brothers. There have been times when I've thought, "How cute.." and "He's wonderful."

JJ: This is used to tune notes. When you strike it, it gives the sound of the note "la". When we are singing chorus, we strike this and coordinate our notes. When I saw the Gospellers carrying this around and said "I should carry one around too...", they gave it to me as a present. Out of the Tohoshinki members, I am the only one who has this.

This Is What's Cool About Jaejoong!
YH: He's cool when he calms down and talks to me. When he speaks seriously I realize that he really has all kinds of thoughts.

YC: He's so honest that he's easily fooled. There's a part of him that immediately trusts people. But I like that about him. He has passion.

JS: He really thinks about us. It's expressed in everything from his words to his actions. His consideration for others is also cool.

CM: He seems cold from his appearance. But on the inside, he's warmer than any of the members. That's something that I might have to learn from him.

I Want Jaejoong To Stop Doing This!
YH: His jokes are uncool. They're really funny but he tells them at the wrong times! Sometimes he ends up bothering the members too!

YC: Jaejoong is really busy right now because he's doing his music activities as well as his drama. So when he gets even a little time off, he goes wild. I'm worried about Jaejoong's health. I understand how he feels, but please pay a little attention to your body!

JS: Soooometimes, I come to not understand Jaejoong (laughs). Jaejoong's moods are like a rugby ball, you don't know where they're going to fly. We've had interesting times because of that, so it's not a bad thing. But there are also times where it's a bother to us.

CM: He comes into the house still wearing his shoes~ and this is (whispers) the same as Yunho too..........(sighs). YOU MUST TAKE OFF YOUR SHOES.

To Jaejoong: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YH: Lately Jaejoong has been having other work and is really busy. That may be so, but he's been doing his work as Tohoshinki with all his heart, not falling sick, and doing it all safely. Thank you.

YC: Jaejoong and a friend and I, the three of us, were having a meal at a bar in Korea. In Korea we don't really split the cost, we take turns to pay. That day it was my turn to pay, but I forgot my wallet.....and so Jaejoong paid for us. It was soju so it shouldn't have been that expensive. I didn't do it on purpose!

JS: I think that because Jaejoong is here, Tohoshinki has gotten a lot better image-wise and singing-wise. Of course, we can't do it without all the members....but I am especially grateful to Jaejoong for that aspect of his.

CM: There are times I observe Jaejoong for no reason. He tells me, "ENOUGH! DON'T LOOK AT ME!!", but I want to see more of Jaejoong's instinctive behaviour!! (JJ: He peeks at me from between the cracks in the door!) I am interested in everything about Jaejoong. Yes.

My Goal for 2009
YC: If I have the time, I think I'd like to go on a trip overseas with my mother and younger brother. To Europe or like, various other places. Anywhere is fine! My goal work-wise is to do my best at composing music that is good enough to be able to offered to other artists. I also want to practice singing more and get better at it!

YC: Francfranc candles. Lately I haven't had much room for comfort both time-wise and mentally, so I haven't been able to sleep well. Since I've got various things I'm worried about..... So I light up a lot of this type of candle and recharge. I buy them quite a lot in Korea too, and I've got lots of other different ones! They're unexpectedly expensive, aren't they...(T/N: I did some research and depending on which Francfranc candles he buys, they could cost him anywhere from 8USD to 40USD each D8)

This Is What's Cool About Yoochun!
YH: His figure when he composes music and plays the piano is cool. Since he really puts his emotions into them, those are the times his truest figure shows.

JJ: His figure when he gives his all and plays music is truly cool. And it feels like he lives life his own way the most. It's amazing how everything to him is done "my own way", but he never causes trouble to the people around him.

JS: He's good at creating an atmosphere that will suit that particular situation, bringing everyone together, and taking leadership. The aspect of him that definitely achieves whatever he thinks, "Let's do this" about is also amazing. He's a man of actions rather than words.

CM: He's a deep-thinking person. He has a deep (profound) heart. He has a different kind of manliness from Yunho's.

I Want Yoochun To Stop Doing This!
YH: Asking me to have supper with him. You know how men have a sense of honour, or like, deep emotion? Yoochun says it really well. He says, "If it was me, and you asked me, I'd eat with you. How about you, Yunho?" When he does that I get gradually weaker and weaker....and I end up saying, "Let's go just for today!"

JJ: He always sleeps with the fan on. It seems like he likes the cold, so even in winter he doesn't warm up his room! Yoochun is the only one who's constantly saying, "It's hot it's hot!" But we're cold.

JS: His moods change easily. When he's feeling down, everyone also takes this into consideration (laughs). When Yoochun is feeling dark, everyone becomes dark. That kind of aura he has is amazing. Today's Yoochun? He's seriously high, isn't he!

CM: He always asks me to join him when he's having supper. HAVEN'T YOU GOTTEN EVEN ME FAT ALREADY?! (T/N: He means Chun has gone through all the members and has now even managed to fatten Min 8D)In the middle of the night he goes, "Let's go to the ramen shop!" or whatever, and in the house we've got instant ramen and yakisoba and so on, nothing but things that you end up seriously wanting to eat. (angry) He says, "It's lonely to eat alone!"!!!!!

To Yoochun: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YH: Since Yoochun left his cellphone to charge and went out, I disconnected his charger and put in my phone for about thirty minutes. It was a complete crime that no one knew about.

JJ: I've arbitrarily eaten Yoochun's presents. Till now I've done it not once, but countless times. Food~, or like health drinks~..........I always think I'll never get caught....I'm sorry!!

JS: He always gives the most response to even my unfunny jokes! Thank you.

CM: Up till now I've borrowed two books from Yoochun....and made them my own........I'm sorry. (JJ: Isn't that being a thief?!) But I REALLY wanted to read those two books!!!!!!!

My Goal for 2009
JS: In 2009 I really want to do my best and hold an independent Tohoshinki concert standing on the stage of Tokyo Dome. In my private life, I want to go on a trip. The destination can be anywhere! Whether it's within the country or overseas.... Since I think I'll be able to get that kind of time. And I want to energetically give everything my all!

JS: Burberry's perfume "WEEKEND FOR MEN". I tried out lots of different perfumes and really like this one. I have lots of perfumes, but right now this is the one I like the most, so it's always in my bag without fail. It'd be bad if it broke, so I put it properly into a box and carry it around with me!

This Is What's Cool About Junsu!
YH: He's cool when he sings. It's like he's not Junsu.

YC: He's pure. I think he's a guy that suits that word 100%, and he always elevates the members' moods. I think that aspect of his, is a really great one.

JJ: The Junsu that stands on stage is the coolest. The singing, dancing Junsu is the best!

CM: I think he's the funniest thing in the world! I worship him! My mood really elevates just by watching him.

I Want Junsu To Stop Doing This!
YH: If he goes into his own room he plays games forever and doesn't come out. He might even be a pro gamer. His presence disappears to the point where we start to wonder whether he's really just left the house. If all of you were with us for a day you'd be shocked too.

YC: Junsu doesn't drink alcohol and he doesn't smoke cigarettes. I like alcohol. I love the atmosphere of a place with liquor ♥ But Junsu goes home and does nothing but play games. I'd like him to go out once in a while and meet his friends.

JJ: He's annoying (immediate reply). And, I want him to say what he wants to say properly till the very end. He changes the topic in the middle of what he's saying and is all over the place. I always have no idea what his conclusion is.

CM: He's too bright......IT'S ANNOYING! His voice is so loud!!!

To Junsu: I Wasn't Able To Say It Before, But I Confess...
YH: I have a hobby of collecting coins. I'd massage Junsu and say, "Okay, 300 yen ple~ase," acting aegyo (T/N: Everyone knows the Korean term for "acting cute" right? Leader-sshi uses the Japanese term aikyou, but since I can't think of an English equivalent ;p), and Junsu would point to a table and say, "Take 300 yen from that small change there." When I went there was 400 yen there, so I took all of it. It was a complete crime.

YC: Since we're both the same age and are friends, even though we're joking around there are times I say too much and am too harsh on him, and I really regret it later on. I'm really sorry for that. Thank you for always being so kind to me.

JJ: When the other members are being interviewed, or when it's the other members' turns to talk, shut up (laughs). Tohoshinki is a five-member group, so we have a sort of order for each person to receive questions and answer them, right? But he just arbitrarily talks. For example even when it's something Changmin is being questioned about, Junsu will go, "Ah~~, Changmin right~" and answer everything. When it's time for questions for the other members, shut up!

CM: The joy of my life, is the discovery of Junsu's funniness! There was one day where he told this to me. He said, "That's enough so stop looking at my face!" It seems he receives stress just by my looking at him.

[Interview] Arena Feb 09

----Your first single of 2008 is a triple-A single. The opening song [Bolero] is very powerful.
JS: The scale for this song is really big, and your tears seem to flow along with the girl (in the song) from the orchestra part in the introduction… That’s the image of the song. It suits the main theme of the ballet movie [Subaru] and the bridge is similar to a song in our album [Love in the Ice]. I think it’s a ballad that’s THSK’s style.
CM: It’s a song that is really easy to emote to while you’re singing.

------There isn’t a part in the end where all 5 of you sing together, but instead, one by one, your voices overlap each other and comes together in an interesting climax.
YH: That’s right. The last part is the climax.
JS: Therefore, I didn’t sing the second refrain myself. It was two, three people singing, and although the others (who aren’t singing) can take a break, it’s rare that only one person is waiting for his part.

---- It sounds amazing
JS: When we sang it earlier for a rehearsal in a music program, the staff doing the checks beside us laughed when they noticed I wasn’t singing alone *laughs*

---- Did they misunderstand you?
JS: Yeah, I think so too.
YH: However, as we want to show our new side through [Bolero], I don’t know whether it’s an something uncommon but this is something to take note of.

-----In this song, it’s Junsu’s, Yoochun’s then Yunho’s solos. So how do the other members feel while waiting (for their parts)? Do you feel very nervous?
YC: We feel happy while waiting for our parts *laughs* When other people are singing, we wait happily for our turn to arrive, right?
CM: That’s right *laughs* Although we’re nervous, it’s a good kind of nervous

--- When Changmin is singing, do you pay special attention to any aspect of the song?
CM: Ah….Ummm~
YC: He doesn’t, Changmin
CM: I just sing naturally *laughs*
JJ: There’s something I pay special attention to!

---- Jaejoong, please explain.
JJ: If we sing the full version of this song, there are 6 parts; yet when we sing this song on programs, we have to cut the song shorter due to time constraints. When singing the shortened version, the song might end just when you think your feelings are all coming up --- therefore, what is important is knowing how to sustain your emotions throughout the song.
YH: When you listen to the song from the beginning to the end, doesn’t it make you feel like listening to it live?

---- Indeed, I think I’ll be really touched when I listen to the climatic ending live. Especially ‘Mamorukara’ (Because I’ll protect you) followed by Yoochun’s ‘Ah~~!’. That was really amazing
YC: Ah~~!! *trying to sing it* …… But I didn’t sing that

YC: That was Micky’s voice
JS: Aren’t they the same person! *laughs*

----Micky-san, was it tough reaching that high note?
YC: Ah.. Yes, actually. My head hurts when singing it *laughs* But I’ll tell myself to sing happily each time

----I think [Bolero] is a difficult song to sing for everyone. How did everyone find it?
YC: That’s right, it’s totally difficult.

-----Totally difficult? *laughs*
YC: Yet, instead of saying it’s difficult, you need to have the will/heart to sing the song
JS: When there’s a will, there’s a way
CM: What does that mean?
JS: If you think it’s difficult, then it’ll be difficult. If you think it’s okay, then it’ll be fine.
YH: He’s a professor, Junsu
JS: Although it’s difficult if you think it’s difficult, it’s hard not to think that way

---- I guess it isn’t that difficult, right? *laughs*
JS: No, as expected, difficult things are tough/difficult. *laughs*
YH: So you’re not a professor after all… *laughs*

--- The whole atmosphere of the PV is rather subdued. Please tell us some interesting episodes that happened during the shoot
JJ: We filmed it pretty late at night. We started filming only after the [Kouhaku] press conference, and filmed till morning.

----- Didn’t you film the PV on the day it was released?
JJ: Yeah. So we didn’t get to meet the actress who played the ballerina since she filmed her parts before we did *laughs*
YC: And because we were filming in a church, it’s a place where you can’t eat in after 10pm. We ended up eating kyuudon and cup noodles inside our bus.

---- It seems very lonesome.
YC: Nevertheless, it was delicious *laughs*

---- Thank goodness *laughs* What do you think of the PV after you’ve watched it?
CM: As the ballet parts made up most of the PV, I felt that it really brought out the feel of the song.

---- Also, in this triple-A single, Yoochun composed and wrote [Kiss the Baby Sky]
YC: The word ‘sky’ in the title overlaps with the image of ‘dreams’. ‘baby’ refers to your childhood. Kissing your dreams means that you’re reaching your dreams…. And I made that all into a song

---- Did you make that song very long ago?
YC: I made it around August.

--- Did you make it for the single?
YC: No. I only knew we were having another single after I finished the song. Therefore, I was flying around when I heard the news.

---- Flying? *laughs*
YC: I was shocked, yet happy

---- How did the rest of you feel after listening to the song
YH: I thought it was a good song
YC: *smiles at Yunho*
JJ: Besides composing and writing the song, I was really surprised when he arranged the song too. We work and rest together, yet he could still produce such a great song in the midst of all this. It’s really amazing.

---- Did you know he was making this song?
CM: I didn’t know
JJ: He made it secretly.
YC: I made it in around 3 days
YH: Yoochun’s a genius. When I first heard it, I felt really free. Although the lyrics aren’t
very happy/bright, the song makes you relax.

---And there’s another song [Please don’t forget], written and composed by Jaejoong.
JJ: I composed the melody first and filled in the lyrics later. The lyrics are about things that happen in one’s everyday life. Also, I wrote the lyrics from a male’s point of view.

--- Did you write it first in Korean, and then change it to Japanese?
JJ: No, I wrote the lyrics in Japanese from the very beginning. I only changed the more complicated words later.
YH: Yoochun wrote his in Japanese from the start too.

---- I see. That’s amazing. [Please don’t forget] is a song that’s very Jaejoong-like.
YC: Really! I think it’s very ‘Jaejoong-like’ too.
JJ: Ah, though I’ve often been told that it’s a ‘Jaejoong-style song’, but I don’t really know what my style is either.
YC: There are 2 kinds of Jaejoong – Jaejoong in Japan and Jaejoong in Korea. This song is Jaejoong in Japan’s image.
JJ: So, how am I like in Korea?
YC: Hardcore
All: *burst out laughing*

--- And in Japan?
YC: In Japan he gives off a lonely feeling
JS: He carries loneliness with him
YC: He’s like black coffee. It’s a song that will make you want to cry.
YH: When I first heard the song, I thought the lyrics were about me. I thought the feelings of person in the lyrics were like mine. Therefore, I could empathize with the song.
JS: I was it was really Jaejoong-like. I seemed to feel good.

JJ: This is one of THSK’s simpler songs and it’s easy on the ears
YC: This song totally suits a Japanese anime
CM: Which one?
JS: Ponyo
YC: No *laughs* [Grave of the Fireflies]. It suits the sad scenes of the movie
CM: It suits [Galaxy Express 999] too
YC: Ah~ That’s because Changmin likes Maetal
CM: I like them. Because I like pretty things *laughs* It’s a song that really suits the anime

---- It’s really meaningful that a songs composed by THSK members was included in the single, isn’t it?
YH: It’s really meaningful, this might mark a turning point in THSK’s history and it’s a great beginning to the year.

---- So lastly, I’ll ask a question with regards to the lyrics in [Bolero]. Firstly, [A place where your sadness will be healed]. Where’s a place where you can recuperate/ find rest?
CM: Junsu’s room
YC: Toilet!! *laughs*

CM: I, it isn’t ‘inside the car’ for me, but the more beautiful place -deep in the mountain
JJ: Wait. Changmin says ‘deep in the mountain’, but how many times have you been there since you’ve debuted?
CM: 3 times… around there

YC: I’ve been really passionate about my throat recently

YC: Yeah. I want to keep it in good condition and I’m very passionate about not letting it be too dry
