[01.03.07] Coverage of TVXQ "O" Concert in Seoul

Dong Bang Shin Ki concert, great performance but 5 hours of searching for belongings

Dong Bang Shin Ki's second concert gave fans a variety of spectacular performance and member's solo specials, but it was an event of many flaws.

Dong Bang Shin Ki's second concert 'The 2nd Asian Tour Concert "O"' was held at Seoul Olympic Park gymnastics stadium on 23rd February 7pm, with the main theme from their third album's title song 'O - Jung.Ban.Hap' which is about delivering messages of hope in the dark and bleak society.

The concert began with a video display of a devastated world due to war. The tension increased as ear-splitting siren sounds and gunfire sounded. Wearing costumes that reminds one of warriors, Dong Bang Shin Ki emerged, putting up a spectacular dance performance and stage manner that captivated the fans in one breath. The fans answered with cheering that shook the stadium.

It was not only Dong Bang Shin Ki's intro, the variety of video display and performances prepared kept the fans' eyes and ears entertained. The highlight of the day was the performance where the video of a diving girl being rescued was showed, and which the members then descended from above the stage with ropes, from the other side. Also, one could see their hidden talents from the video of playing instruments like guitar, piano, cello and drums. The footage of them smashing and busting old cars in the scrapyard also showed their playful abilities.

Dong Bang Shin Ki continued with their performance that exceeded one's imagination. While they were singing, a girl wearing a white dress descended from above held by a wire and sprinkled fake money notes. 50 men wearing military uniforms appeared, raising flags, and surrounded the stage, supporting the members. Dong Bang Shin Ki rode in cute little cars across the stage during the performance of 'Balloons'.
(tobi: I can't picture anything in my head...except for the cute cars part)

The members also gave their fans great delight by showing their individual talents which usually are not easily seen. Xiah Junsu gave his performance of his self-composed song, 'My Page', while U-know Yunho performed his hard rock self-composed song 'Spokes man' for the fans. Micky Yoochun and Choi Kang Changmin sang Brian McKnight's 'One Last Cry' and Extreme's 'When I First Kissed You' respectively which the audience digested sweetly. Young Woong Jaejoong performed a touching rendition of Flower's hit song 'Crying', letting the audience see a side of him that they rarely saw on television.

Artists from the same company, Donghae from Super Junior took the rapping part of Yunho's self-composed song, surprising the audience, and Jang Ri In appeared during the song 'Tri-Angle' with a dance performance.

However, this large scale concert costing SGD 2.3 million had many flaws. The ticket price of SGD100 is a burden to middle and high school students. There was not enough consideration for the fans who had come a long way. The students who took long bus rides to the venue were already exhausted before the concert.

The admission of 12,000 fans also took a long time. The admission procedure ended at 7.20pm. The concert was scheduled to start at 7pm, and the late opening of 40 minutes made the fans even more tired. The performance was stopped midway for more than 5 minutes due to an error in the system during the intro part.

The sound equipment was also not good. With the exception of dance songs with vigorous choreography, for the most part the singing was carried out live. However the lyrics were not delivered properly. It was a pity for the fans who looked forward to seeing the members' live performances.

The members had an ending greeting at the last song, 'Hi Ya Ya', but the fans' cheering and sound system error made the members' greeting inaudible. The encore time was also missed. There was a happening where the fans were unaware that the last song for the concert had ended, and stayed around while wondering in their minds.

Also, to protect copyright, fans' handphones and cameras had to be confiscated, and due to the process not running smoothly, there was some unhappiness. Because of the management's inability to manage 12,000 fans' belongings systematically, it took more than 5 hours to return the belongings to the owners. The fans who were exhausted after watching the concert, which ended at 11pm, could only stamp their feet in exasperation.

This concert is the opening of the Asia tour concert, which will be followed by Beijing, Shanghai, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia Kuala Lumpur etc.

This is the coverage from just the 23rd Feb's concert...^^
